CCEA hosts roundtable discussion on education

Community leaders, parents, and teachers take part in conversation

On Thursday, February 2, the Clark County Education Association hosted a roundtable discussion on public education.  The conversation kicked off with a presentation of the Growth Model from a teacher’s perspective.  The presentation was conducted by active and retired teachers -- Dr. Chris Leakas, Ann Moody, Erik Smith, Paul Feaker, and Carolyn Stewart -- members of the CCEA Growth Model Task Force.

Realize your innovative ideas
Submit your NSEA Good Idea Grant application by March 9th

NSEA is pleased to offer grants of up to $1,000 to Association members with innovative ideas to help improve education in the state of Nevada. The NSEA Good Idea Grants allow you to make your good ideas a reality, and may be utilized in many ways.  Members may use the funding to develop a special unit or project for use with students in the classroom, present a workshop or class for educators, or to create materials or lesson plans for individual or widespread use.

CCEA unveils expert’s findings
on the school district’s budget
Hundreds of teachers rally demanding more resources be put in the classroom
While several hundred teachers rallied in front of the school district building, CCEA held a press conference at the district’s offices on Thursday, January 26.  Ready to take the message to the public were reporters from channels 8, 13, and Univision, as well as Review-Journal and Las Vegas Sun.  CCEA President Ruben Murillo, flanked by a group of teachers and community members, unveiled the results of a recent study that analyzed the school district’s budget.
