We encourage you to become involved in the Association—committee involvement is a great first step.  There are 12 standing committees.  A brief description of each committee's function is listed below.
 

• The Awards Committee is responsible for recognizing the outstanding efforts of CCEA members in four categories — Dedicated Educator Award, STAR Educator Award, Pam Chambers Service to CCEA Award, and Steve Cozine Leadership Award.  Nominations for the four awards are solicited and recipients are selected.

 

• The Budget Committee is responsible for the oversight of the operating budget of the Association.  The Committee meets monthly with the CCEA Treasurer and Business Manager.  The Treasurer presents the Budget Committee’s report to the CCEA Executive Board and the AR Council at its monthly meetings.

 

• The Bylaws Committee is responsible for recommending revisions of the Bylaws for adoption by the AR Council.

 

• The Elections Committee is responsible for conducting all elections and ratification of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.  The Committee proposes the Standard Election Procedures for adoption by the AR Council.

 

• The Government Relations (GR) Committee is responsible for increasing members’ awareness of the potential CCEA has to impact the political arena.

 

• The Member Rights Committee is responsible for determining the grievances that will go to arbitration.

 

Membership Recruitment & Retention Organizing Committee (MRROC) is responsible for coordinating membership activities in CCEA, including AR trainings and the early enrollment program.

 

• The Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee (EMAC) reviews and assesses Association goals, objectives, programs, and long-range plans to ensure that ethnic-minority concerns are addressed.

 

• The Negotiations Committee is responsible for bargaining the contract with the school district.  The Committee seeks member input to set its priorities.

 

• The Policy Committee is responsible for proposing new policies and updating current policies to the AR Council and Executive Board for action.

 

• The Scholarship Committee is responsible for determining the recipients of the CCEA Scholarships.  The Committee proposes scholarship criteria for adoption by the AR Council.

 

• The Special Education Committee is responsible for addressing the issues, needs, and concerns of the members working with the Student Support Services Division through research, training, and communication of information.
