Are you ready for the General election?
Deadline to register by mail is October 2
You may be wondering... isn’t it too early to be talking about the General election? The answer is no. Preparedness is a key factor to springing into action. How can we ask you and your colleagues to get out the vote if we haven’t made certain you are eligible to vote?
Our involvement in the coming election has to be seen, and felt, throughout the election cycle. We have to send a loud message that we will walk the walk to ensure we elect friends of education. Together we will elect representatives committed to take the lead to improve and fund public education. We have just too much at stake to sit this one out. So, let’s get ready!
If you are not yet registered to vote in Clark County, moved since the last election, wish to change your political party affiliation, or have had a change of name since you last voted, you can request a voter registration application. Save time by making this request online (preparation has many benefits, one of them being a time saver). Simply complete the request by visiting http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/depts/Election/English/Pages/votequal.aspx and the Election Department will mail you an application.
Following is the calendar the Election Department will observe for the 2010 General Election:
Oct 2: Registration Deadline
Last day to register to vote or to update your registration without having to appear in-person at the Election Department offices.
Oct 3-12: In-Office Registration
You may register to vote or update your existing registration in-person at the Election Department office only.
Oct 16-29: Early Voting
You may vote before General Election Day at various locations throughout the County. Hours and days vary by site. Early voting site information will be provided on your sample ballot and will be published in local newspapers by the Election Department.
Oct 26: Mail Ballot Request Deadline
Last day for the Election Department to receive written mail ballot requests.
Nov 2: General Election
Know of a friend or family member who is not registered to vote? Encourage them to do so—let them know how simple the process is. Let’s work together to make sure we have a say-so because too much is at stake in the 2011 Session of the Legislature.
